Universität Heidelberg, Germany in collaboration with Otani University, Japan organized a joint research group with the aim to review and revise the study of South and Southeast Asian manuscripts in the context of the fast-evolving discipline of Digital Humanities. On Friday, July 15, 2021, from 02.15-3.45 pm, Dr. Suchada Srisetthaworakul, Mahidol University in collaboration with the members of Dhammachai Tipitaka Project, gave a presentation on “Palm-leaf Manuscripts in Southeast Asia: Demonstration of Creating a Database of Pāli Tipitaka (Survey, Digitization and Transcription)”. The presentation demonstrated the process of creating a database of palm-leaf manuscripts of the Pāli canon conducted by Dhammachai Tipitaka Project (DTP), Thailand.
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 01.00-4.00 pm, Dr. Chakhrit Laemmuang, presented a lecture on “Jātaka Images before the 24th Century of the Buddhist Era in Thailand: The Relationship between History and Scripture” via zoom. This lecture was organized by DCI Center for Buddhist Studies.

On Saturday from November, 26 to November, 25 December, 2021, DCI Center for Buddhist Studies organized an online special lecture series entitled “Tipitaka: The Current Study Back to the History” divided into 5 topics. On December, 4, Dr. Suchada Srisetthaworakul presented the 2# topic on “The 4 Main Traditions of Theravada Palm-leaf Manuscripts” and on December, 11, Dr. Bunchird Chaowarithreonglith presented the 3# topic on “From Palm-leaf Manuscripts to a Critical Edition of Tipitaka”.
